MBA Feedback: You really should find out which one the college or university you will be attending will want. The GRE is the general entrance exam while the GMAT is the Graduate Management Admisisons test. Contrary to belief, the GRE is NOT easier because it has the word General in it. The GRE is NOT a substitute for the GMAT hpwever I do not know if the GMAT could substitute for the GRE… (I am thinking it would but really have no proof to base that on). Most business schools and all law schools will not accept GRE scores. I have not taken the GMAT but have taken the LSAT (required for Law school) and it is my understanding that neither the GRE nor the LSAT is harder, it is a matter of what your undergrad concentration has been in.
In otherwords, if you have not taken undergrad coursework in management, legal or medical studies, the GRE will be most geared towards your true acedemic abilities. Taking the GMAT if you have not majored in econ or business would be a waste of time and money and may not give you the bragging rights you were hoping for by scoring well.
MBA Feedback: The GMAT is by far a more difficult test because it is computer adaptive. As you begin to answer questions correctly, the tests ups the difficult notch and delivers you questions that are more and more challenging.
The are MANY more perfect scores on GRE math sections than GMAT math section.
Additionally, the GRE has a section that that focuses on vocabulary (something that I think is sort of simple).
Essentially, the GMAT is much closer to an adaptive IQ test than a typical standardized test, which is what the GRE is.
