Can you answer Stephen D’s question about MBA?:
I have an MBA, worked in the computer industry for awhile. Would like to continue my education for the rest of my life. Thinking about becoming a teacher, heard that having an MBA helps. I would actually like to work at Plymouth State University because I like the variety of programs that they offer, and the surrounding area. I like the outdoors. I also plan on settling down into the field and the area where I work. I’m 44 now and am ready to make that move. Any suggestions as to how I can achieve this goal will be appreciated.
What might help me is to know someone that may have been in the same position as me or is in the same position as me and who is working on or has become a teacher at a university. I’m looking to understand more about the process that is involved with someone who has an MBA and has taught or is going to teach at the college or technical school level.

MBA Feedback: What do you want to teach? What would you like to do for the world? Computers in business? If you give a clue something will click.
With experience in the computer industry and an MBA you probably could teach the basic business computer applications course without difficulty. There are other 1000-2000 level business courses that you might also be able to teach.
The best course of action is to prepare your resume. Be sure to list your work experiences and all of your degrees. Also list if you have ever done any instructional training in your prior work experience. List the areas you think you would like to teach in. It is a good idea to reveiw the University catalog on line and look at the lower division courses that you think you might be qualified to teach. Don’t forget to list at least three references. Once the resume is up to date, send it and a cover letter to

Your cover letter and resume will be distributed departments that may be able to use you as an adjunct. Adjunct teaching is the way most people get started in college teaching.
